| I can't believe I'm done!!! What a week... one final on Tues, Wed, Thu, and Fri... and of course, I had to have the last final on the very last time slot on Friday. But whatever, I'm still in shock! No more finals ever at that school!!! Tabby, Nicole, Melody, Jamie, Ahmed, Mona, and Curtis threw me a surprise graduation party (which started four hours after my last final ended = I had three hours of sleep). Oh man, I am truly the luckiest man in the world. *sniff sniff* Now, I'm so ready... with the Tabster, I'm going to set my sights now... on ruling the world! muhahaha | | |
| Some things never change... from An's bachelor party, the boys from Indy! | | |
| If I write, then I shall write on this... OK, so I decided I should count and date the weddings I'll be attending this year. It'll be SEVEN thus far!!! Sloooooow down people! This poor college kid may end up having to get an extra job this year. Any floors need to be mopped? Lawns to be mowed? (Oh goodness, I just had a bit of a lapse and almost thoughtlessly wrote "Mows to be lawned?" Must be another effect of the friends-getting-married syndrome)
On Saturday, I went to a Bridal Showcase or whatever it was, with An and Gwen (who are getting married) and their friends (all girls, of course). Boy, what an experience that was. First to be thought of as getting married and being approached (or perhaps, attacked is a better word) by all the vendors was something. Denying all the wedding cake samples (in prevention of a tummy ache, especially before noon!) was not too bad. And the fashion show was intriguing at best, yawn-inducing at worst.
So at this show, we're walking past a booth for the company Wendell and Somebody?, and Gwen remarks, "Doesn't Ella work for this company?" And sure enough we spot her, and apparently, she only sees me first and with a confused look exclaims "KING DO IS NOT GETTING MARRIED!!" and then I give my best "OH YOU KNOW ME WELL SISTA!" look and nod back in agreement. She then sees An and her look of perplexion quickly disappears. But it is indeed, a great thing to know, that to my friends, it is the most awkward thing to see me in the context of a bridal showcase (though I must confess, you didn't see that many men, grooms-to-be in particular, there in the first place).
And this past New Year's the "Bet" had finally taken effect. The Bet was made a few years back between eight of us good friends and the premise was simple: He or She who married first would pay the rest of us $50 each. Likewise, He or She who married last would pay the rest $50 each as well. Funny thing is, two within the group (Donna and Sithik) got engaged to each other and there were some who were hoping for a double payment if perhaps they got married first. But life is as it is, and they haven't gotten married. It was, however, Suky who married first on New Year's Eve and so she lost the bet, but her consolation prize was the best and most wonderful man she could ever ask for. So it wasn't really a loss by any means.
Now seven remain. And it appears I have fallen to temptation. For I now have the courage to vow, especially to you other six, that:
I shall outlast you all!!! Expect that $50 from me. It is yours with patience!
And so it is done.
Sarah L.: We have to find you a girl King!
Jason M.: Yeah, you need a girl.
King: (with confusion) You do realize Sarah, that if you hook me up then I won't be able to hang out with you and Jason like we do now.
Sarah L.: Oh, then we can't hook you up!
Ending note: Though I may be greatly prone to third-wheel syndrome... let it be known that I love tricycles! | | |

To-day I was a child listening to the plans and schemes of my friends as they looked towards the future with wide bright eyes of things that we only spoke of as children as we only imagined what it would be like eager to know what sensational joyous and intricate events would captivate us as we inhabited bodies that would only offer glimpses of a world we once had now in a world we had not chosen in bodies we had not designed coming to points where things aligned where as lines they misaligned and To-day I was a child to know all this as I wanted to be left behind having had only love affairs with things children love to do.
